The struggle with work.
And the recovery there of.
Joyous Timezones, lovelies. Welcome to another post about my professional (and sometimes personal) life.
If you are subscribed and read the post from last week, you know i took the week off after a 100 hour week. Well, that burnout carried over into this week. Despite my best efforts, i didn’t actually get back to work until thursday. i’m making good progress on my client’s projects. Week 12 is next week, so if i really had the chance to pull out all the stops, this is it.
I thought i was going to a ritual and performance for someone’s birthday in Bethesda last night.
Turned out a couple drummer friends showed up so we had live drumming at a dance party. My body is SOOO tired and sore. I didn’t get as much of a cooldown as i would have liked, and i’m suffering for it now. Moving is hard, but the more i move, the easier it gets.
Saturday i wanted to build on an idea that i doodled up in college. The concept is is a website i can access that will have the characters that i play. All the information and lore and art that i’ve compiled for the games go on this site, so i can be ready to play anytime.
I want to build it from scratch instead of using Wix or something like it. The trick is that the nav is tilted 45 degrees, and use my handwriting. I hit a little bit of a speedbump: i’m hotmapping my image and getting it juuuust right is a hassle. I still dont know how i’ll do the scrolling window, but i’ll probably work on this for the 13th Week.
So as you might know, i run a DC by Night vampire 20th anniversary game called “Capital Veil”, that is for a podcast that i will be releasing. I’m currently editing the first episode and we recorded the second session Friday. It’s coming, it is, but editing takes time. I have a person in my back pocket that loves to edit, so i’m hoping to send them files and shove some money at them and let them play.
I’m trying something new at the end of every game, where the players tell me their hopes and wishes for the next game. You know what everyone’s wishes were? MORE DICE ROLLING. I’d never heard that one before then. So i’ll make the game a little less RP heavy and a little more crunchy.
What’s the weirdest request you’ve gotten from your players?
Thank you for joining me this week, and you will hear from me again next Sunday! I’ll probably talk about my average Sunday ritual.
