This week was full of photography and hanging out with wonderful people. Every January, i offer three free photo shoots, and they are on a first come first serve basis. I shot two sets, and got them edited in less than a week, (i’m so tired tho), so i’m gonna talk about my trip and maybe some plans for the following weekend.
Tuesday I went to Leesburg, VA to photograph the lovely Kay Beyers; bellydancer extraordinaire. We figured out that she’s actually a practicing witch, she just didn’t know it.
We did some guerilla shizz for that set. It was on the grounds for a colonial mansion, and we found this awesome tree. We pulled over, shot 4 props in 20 minutes, got back in the car, and skittered away with a bunch of bitchin’ photos. I spent the night at her place, and it was a rockin’ good time. Next time, we’ll go hiking and do some witchy shit in the woods.
Then i went over to my ride or die friend Jen Chekouras, and we ate cereal and watched cartoons, since she saw my saturday picture of cereal and cartoons, and she wanted in on the action. I’ll be back in town feb 16-18, and it will be fun.
Home thursday and friday, then back out Saturday to photograph Jenny Ginger in Richmond VA at Hollywood Cemetery. It took more time to find the right spot in the cemetery to shoot at, and she was dressed in a pomegranate dress with gold makeup and purple hair, and while we didn’t find the exact spot i had my heart set on, we did get some great pictures out of it.
I have one free set left: I had a lady in Frederick MD, but she wants a snow shoot. The downside to that is i am two hours away, and when it snows, the roads are treacherous and the drivers moreso. I do have to preface all that to say my safety comes first.
Now to chill before next weekend, which will be in Next Week’s substack!
If you could photograph anything you want however you want, what would it be of and why?
and i should probably also mention the kickstarter i have running.
The above is the design for the limited edition 2x2 stickers. And below is a page from the 24 page magazine, with all pandemic era art!
